Healing Heart Rehab was founded in 2022 by a family trio. Debra, Joy, and Russell spent years helping animals in need and knew they needed to do more so they decided to take the step of opening their own animal rescue.
"Healing Broken Hearts One By One" is more than just a motto for us – it's our mission, our passion, and our commitment to making a difference in the lives of animals in need. Our rescue is dedicated to providing a lifeline to those furry friends who have faced hardship and adversity, with a special focus on animals requiring medical attention.
At our rescue, we believe in not only providing immediate care and treatment to injured or sick animals but also in offering ongoing support and rehabilitation to help them heal physically and emotionally. Every animal that comes through our doors receives the love, attention, and specialized care they need to thrive once again.
But our mission extends beyond the walls of our shelter. We're deeply committed to educating our local community about responsible pet ownership, the importance of spaying and neutering, and the value of compassion towards all living beings. By empowering individuals with knowledge and resources, we strive to create a more compassionate and animal-friendly community for everyone.
Furthermore, we're proud to collaborate with other animal rescues, pooling our resources and expertise to maximize our impact and reach even more animals in need. Together, we can accomplish so much more than we ever could alone.
We attend events to help educate the community on animal abuse and neglect. Featured is Charlie, a animal cruelty case out of Temple, Tx. Charlie was a dog found matted severely in a neighborhood. Joy was contacted about the dog and immediately went to the dogs aid. Our goal is to get people in the community to speak up and be a voice for those who don't have one and the steps needed to get them justice.
Our goal was to build a huge dog rescue building for our rescues. Though the process has taken time we have made great progress with the area and still have more to go! Thanks to donations and community support we can build a facility to give rescues a nice area to heal and wait to find their forever homes!
Jax was left behind by his owners near Waco, Tx. He was left in a small bathroom inside the home with no food or water for weeks before being found. Jax was fully healed and went through training to heal his PTSD. He found an amazing home!
Piglett was posted for sale by her owner out of Killeen, Tx and the next day the owner said she needed a rescue as Piglett started having seizures. Joy was contacted to help. The owner never posted a photo of the dog but once a photo was received they knew they had to help her. Piglett was extremely emaciated, covered and caked in her own feces, unable to stand or walk, covered in crate sores, and having seizures. Our rescue was not open at this time but thankfully Poundpup and Friends rescue agreed to help us. All that was found after all the testing done was her condition was due to neglect and abuse. Piglett was fostered by us and also adopted by us. She is fully recovered and goes to events as well to share her story.
Charlie was found in the street in a nice neighborhood in Temple, Tx. Joy was contacted to help the dog. He was found completely matted with his eyes matted shut by his hair. He had green puss coming out of the eye area and smelt like months of feces and filth. Animal control was immediately notified and he went straight to the vet for care. Poor Charlie had a horrible skin infection, eyes were damaged beyond the point of saving, trash gut, and more. Thankfully due to his story going viral a person contacted Joy knowing who the owner was. A case was filed. Due to the damage of the eyes, Charlie had to have both of them removed. His owner was charged and convicted of animal abuse. He now lives with Joy and Russell and is fully recovered.
Dawn was found on the streets of Temple, Tx. It was obvious she was used for puppies and in bad shape. She did her 72 hour hold at Temple Shelter then we pulled her. We found out she had a badly broken pelvis on top of skin issues. Debra immediately started her rehab. Dawn was taken up North to another rescue where she found her forever home!!!
